  Error alert: All references say this George Monroe was the grandson of Col. William Gent Monroe, Jr. but there is disagreement on who George's parents were. Some references say his parents were George Monroe (b. about 1726) and Peggy. Different references have slightly different children for this family. All children mentioned in the references are listed here, but some may not belong to this family. Others may be duplicates. The Malloy reference says this George was the son of William Monroe and Margaret Bowcock. Juda and William went west soon after they were married. The rest of the family never heard from them again and it was assumed that they were killed by the Indians.
