- Kermit was born in Drums, Pennsylvania and lived his entire life there, although in his later life, he spent the summers in Sun City, Florida.
He operated Reisenweaver's General Store in Drums until 1950 and then became the postmaster in Drums, a position he held for 24 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in St. Johns; the church choir; past-master and secretary for F&AM Lodge 687 in Hazleton; the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; Irem Temple, Wilkes-Barre, commander of Hazleton; officer in the Knights Templar, Hazleton.
He was also a member and officer of the Gideons of Hazleton; past-president and current member of the Drums Lions Club; member of Memorial Society of Drums; secretary of St. Johns and United Church of Christ Cemetery Association; and held membership in the Berwick Country Club from 1960 until his death.
